Spring Update – Game 5

The Phillies Double-A squad improved to 3-2 on the spring season with a 2-0 victory on Saturday against the Toronto Double-A players. The pitching was fantastic, as they did not allow a run, and allowed just four hits in the game.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights!

Josh Zeid
Zeid, a 10th round selection in the 2009 draft by Philadelphia, started and tossed three scoreless innings for the Double-A squad on Saturday. A native of Connecticut, Zeid, 23, posted an 8-4 mark with a 2.93 ERA for Lakewood last season. On Saturday he threw 51 total pitches and allowed just four hits and one walk, while fanning five batters.

Mike Cisco
Cisco, 23, posted a 4-11 mark with a 4.73 ERA for the R-Phils in 2010. On Saturday, the South Carolina native was sharp against Blue Jays Double-A players. Cisco tossed three no-hit innings, while fanning two batters. In parts of two seasons with the R-Phils, the right-handed starter has gone 6-15 with a 4.68 ERA over 23 games.

Derek Loop, Jacob Diekman, and Phillippe Aumont each tossed a scoreless inning. Aumont closed out the game for the Double-A squad. He walked one and struck-out two batters.

Torre Langley
Langley, a catcher who appeared in two games for the R-Phils in 2010, enjoyed a solid day at the plate on Saturday. The Georgia native went 2-3 with a run scored for the Double-A Phils. The 23-year-old backstop appeared in 21 games for Clearwater and 16 games for Lakewood last season.

Spring Phillers… Joe Savery failed to register a hit… He went 0-2… SS Freddy Galvis went 1-4 with a stolen base and RBI… Drew Naylor allowed one run on three hits over 4.2 IP for the Triple-A Phils… Chris Frey went 1-3 with a home run for the Triple-A team… Trevor May allowed one unearned run over three innings for the Single-A Phillies… May fanned three and allowed just one hit.. He threw 54 total pitches… 1B Jim Murphy was 2-2 with a double for the Single-A squad.
